New MES UI Provides Quick Access to Plant Floor Data

MES software provider Performix Inc. this week announced its Performix xMES Next Generation User Interface (UI) for plant floor operator execution. Designed with Rich Internet Application (RIA) technology and the ability to integrate data from existing business systems, plant floor devices, and Performix xMES, the new UI uses the Adobe Air platform and can be deployed quickly on existing wireless handheld devices or on an operator’s computer in the plant.

The xMES Next Generation UI is said to provide manufacturers with a more efficient process for viewing and executing electronic work instructions while allowing users quick access to critical information based on different views provided. Other capabilities include:

• “At a glance” views for operators into the content and status of current procedures being executed through the default Procedure Dashboard
  

• Access to the current path and possible alternative paths that may occur during the execution of a procedure through the Network View or Process Map
  

• Presentation of the latest SOP documents, material safety data sheets and data from other business systems at any particular phase view
  

• Custom message or pre-canned message attachment capability during execution through the ‘Add Note’ function

Performix will demonstrate its xMES product this week at SAP’s Sapphire conference, in a joint presentation with manufacturer Dow Corning, which participated in the development of the new UI, Performix said.
